  • $72.82 million in state taxes paid directly by hospitals
  • In addition, New Jersey hospitals underwrote millions of dollars in shortfalls caused by state and federal underfunding of key government healthcare programs. Those shortfalls totaled $579 million for treating senior citizens on Medicare and $187 million for treating patients enrolled in traditional Medicaid programs.
